The Haltom Buffalos will square off against the Pearce Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
Haltom managed to slip by Arlington the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Buffalos came up short against the Colts on Monday, falling 13-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Meanwhile, Pearce came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cardinals a 21-0 shutout. Considering the Mustangs have won 14 games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lexie Landers was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over four innings pitched. In other batting news, Molly Simmons was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Aubrey Yarbrough was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.
Pearce hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in ten consecutive matchups.
