It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Laurel had no problem doing just that on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 24-21 win over the Stone Tomcats. Winning may never get old, but the Golden Tornadoes sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Stone's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ayden Green, who rushed for 113 yards and one score. The team also got some help courtesy of Zander Howard, who rushed for 42 yards and one TD.
The victory got Laurel back to even at 6-6. As for Stone, the defeat snapped their winning streak at seven games and leaves them with a 8-4 record.
Laurel has already played their next contest, a 31-6 loss against Brookhaven on the 28th. Stone does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
