Basketball Game Preview: Coral Shores Hurricanes vs. Key West Conchs

Coral Shores is on a three-game streak of home losses, Key West a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Coral Shores Hurricanes will welcome the Key West Conchs at 7:00 p.m.

Coral Shores is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Palmer Trinity on Wednesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Coral Shores was outmatched by Palmer Trinity and fell 76-35. The Hurricanes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 55-19.

Meanwhile, after only 29 points in their last contest, Key West made sure to put some points up on the board against Circle Christian on Friday. Key West came out on top against Circle Christian by a score of 58-48. Given the Conchs' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 325th, while the Centurions are ranked 711th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Coral Shores better focus on containing Tramane Scott and Alex Means as the pair were huge in Key West's win. Scott dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 boards, while Means went 6 of 12 on his way to 13 points and six steals. With that strong performance, Scott is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Kameron Roberts, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Key West smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Key West now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Coral Shores, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Coral Shores was dealt a bruising 59-23 loss at the hands of Key West in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Coral Shores was down 37-6.
