Softball Recap: Cleburne Takes a Loss

Cleburne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Joshua Owls, falling 20-6. If the Yellowjackets were looking for revenge after losing 9-0 to the Owls when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Azriela Huber was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Matti Fitzpatrick was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2.

Even though they lost, Cleburne was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Cleburne's record now sits at 4-10-2. As for Joshua, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.

Coming up, Cleburne will take on Burleson at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Burleson's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Cleburne's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Joshua, they will square off against Mansfield Timberview at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
