Preview: Islands Sharks vs. Wayne County Yellow Jackets
Islands is 0-4 against Wayne County since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Islands Sharks will head out on the road to take on the Wayne County Yellow Jackets at 5:30 p.m. One thing working in Islands' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups.
Last Friday, Islands didn't have too much trouble with Memorial Day on the road as they won 58-41.
Braylen Butterworth was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Deondrae Hills, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Wayne County came up short against Southeast Bulloch on Tuesday and fell 62-50. Wayne County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Islands' win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-14. As for Wayne County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 16 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-19 record this season.
Islands couldn't quite finish off Wayne County in their previous meeting two weeks ago and fell 65-62. Can Islands avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
