Basketball Recap: Valley Falls to Liberty Common in First Game of Season

Valley had to start their season on the road on Thursday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They had to suffer through a 77-49 loss at the hands of the Liberty Common Eagles. The Vikings were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-20.

Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nate Soliz, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds. Caleb Dudley was another key player, putting up 11 points and six boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Liberty Common to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caiden Castillo, who went 7-for-12 en route to 17 points and four steals. Castillo is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 56% in the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Grayson Clay, who shot 70% from the field to rack up 17 points.

Liberty Common has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 72-59 loss against Platte Valley on the 5th. As for Liberty Common, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 69-58 defeat against Timnath on the 5th.
