Baseball Recap: Friday's Win Is Cate's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

It's playoff time, and Cate had no trouble coming through when it counted. They won by a run and slipped past the Azusa Aztecs 3-2.

Quinn Pullen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Casbarro, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Chase Meyer, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI.

Cate has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Azusa, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-11.

Coming up, Cate will take on La Quinta at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Azusa does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
