Basketball Recap: Manassas Park Comes Up Short

Manassas Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They took a blow against the James Wood Colonels, falling 74-12. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-2.

James Wood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aubrey Nail out in front who went 6 for 8 en route to 15 points and four steals. Those 15 points gave Nail a new career-high. Josie Russell was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 17 boards.

Manassas Park's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for James Wood, they pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Manassas Park and James Wood could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. Manassas Park (ranked 360th) will meet Meridian (ranked 65th) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, James Wood will take on Hampshire at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday down 92 places (138 vs. 46).
