Basketball Recap: Alena Holder's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tecumseh over Princeton

Tecumseh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Princeton Tigers, falling 73-51. The Braves were probably out for revenge after losing 64-58 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Braves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alena Holder, who went 6 of 11 en route to 16 points and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Hazel Melton, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Princeton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ailie Taylor, who went 8 for 11 on her way to 22 points and three steals. The match was Taylor's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jemiah Buford, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine steals.

Tecumseh now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Princeton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-12 record this season.

Tecumseh will be playing at home against Pike Central at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Princeton, they will venture away from home to challenge Vincennes Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Princeton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.5 points per game this season.
