Softball Preview: Southside Sharks vs. Port Barre Red Devils        
        
		
            
 The Southside Sharks will look to defend their home field  on Monday against the Port Barre Red Devils at 4:30  p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
 Southside entered their tilt with Lafayette with eight consecutive wins  but they'll enter their next game with nine. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lions  an   11-0 shutout  on Friday. 11 seems to be a good number for Southside as the  team scooped up a  victory with the same number of  runs in their previous game.
  AC Pharr was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  kept things locked down with   no  earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Pharr has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  pitched less than five  innings in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Pharr was also solid in the batter's box,  going 1-for-2 with a  double and  an  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Maci Menard was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with five  RBI, two  runs,  and a  triple.  Jena Lecamus was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs and  stealing four bases while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances.
 Meanwhile, Port Barre got the win against St. Joseph's - Plaucheville  last Thursday by a conclusive  10-0.
 Southside pushed their record up to 17-7 with that  win, which was their seventh straight  at home. As for Port Barre, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won six of their last seven matches,  which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record  this season.
 Everything went Southside's way against Port Barre in their previous matchup  back in March of 2023 as Southside made off with  a  13-2 victory. Will Southside repeat their success,  or does  Port Barre have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
