Preview: Harvey Red Raiders vs. Conneaut Spartans
Harvey has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Conneaut Spartans at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Harvey suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Edgewood by a score of 83-81. Harvey has struggled against Edgewood recently, as their contest on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Armani Hall, who scored 20 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Chase Goines, who scored 19 points.
Even though they lost, Harvey were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Conneaut's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their ninth straight loss. They were dealt a 84-44 defeat at the hands of Edgewood. While losing is never fun, Conneaut can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 650th, while Edgewood is ranked 257th).
Harvey has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Conneaut, they bumped their record down to 3-9 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Harvey against Conneaut in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 90-57 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Conneaut's Chance Loomis, who scored 26 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Harvey still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
