Garinger extends home losing streak to four

Recap: Garinger Wildcats vs. Butler Bulldogs

After a string of seven wins, the Garinger Wildcats's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 53-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Butler. Garinger has not had much luck with Butler recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Despite the loss, Garinger saw an underclassman step up: Misa Garris scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. The game was Garris' eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Raziah Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 14 rebounds.

Brooklyn Saunders continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Butler, scoring 35 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Saunders has scored at least 25% of Butler's points. Tyana Stitt was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 12 rebounds.

Garinger's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Butler, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garinger will take on East Mecklenburg at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Mecklenburg will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 416th, while Garinger is ranked 111th). Butler will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Providence at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th.
