Soccer Game Preview: El Monte vs. Mountain View

The El Monte Lions will head out to challenge the Mountain View Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

El Monte barely beat Rosemead the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lions blew past the Panthers 5-1 on Tuesday. That looming 5-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for El Monte yet this season.

They hit Rosemead with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jaime Sandoval (2), Leonardo Moreno (2), and Anthony Armendariz.

Meanwhile, Mountain View and Marshall finished up their match with a 0-0 draw on Tuesday.

El Monte's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-5. With that draw, Mountain View's record moves to 6-1-2.

El Monte skirted past Mountain View 1-0 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
