Softball Recap: Ridgefield's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Ridgefield extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 9-6 in the process. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Danbury Hatters. The Tigers' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.

The result came thanks to Caitlin McGratty's shutout, as she gave up just six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ridgefield saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Muncy, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Danbury, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4. The matchup marked the first time this season in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Danbury's side, Jacqueline Marks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Ridgefield is set to face off against their familiar foe Trumbull at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 3.6, the Eagles 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Danbury will challenge rival Staples at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
