Basketball Recap: Emily Horath's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Manteno over Watseka/Milford

Manteno was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-39 heartbreaker at the hands of the Watseka/Milford Warriors.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emily Horath, who posted eight points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Maddie Gesky, who earned two points and 16 boards.

Even though they lost, Manteno smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in 18 consecutive matchups.

Manteno's defeat dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Watseka/Milford, the victory (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 19-1.

Manteno wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-37 win against Wilmington on the 23rd. As for Watseka/Milford, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-23 victory against Chrisman on the 23rd.
