Softball Game Preview: Nordonia Knights vs. Hudson Explorers

The Nordonia Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Hudson Explorers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Wednesday, Nordonia came up short against Brecksville-Broadview Heights and fell 9-5.

Nordonia saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kirra Smeal, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Smeal has launched this season. Another was Haydn Paul, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Solon hit Hudson with a four-run fourth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Explorers took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Comets. The Explorers haven't had much luck with the Comets recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Bailey Deutsch was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Nordonia has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Hudson, their record is now 2-12.

Nordonia was able to grind out a solid win over Hudson when the teams last played back in April, winning 14-11. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
