Football Recap: Jace Williams and Christian Williams Secure Win for Thomas Sumter Academy

Thomas Sumter Academy got themselves on the board against Lee Academy on Friday, but Lee Academy never followed suit. They walked away with a 12-0 victory over the Cavaliers. For the Generals, this counts as revenge for the 35-16 win the Cavaliers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

A big part of Thomas Sumter Academy's victory came down to the chemistry between Jace Williams and his top target Christian Williams. Jace threw for 310 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 75.9% of his passes while Christian picked up 126 receiving yards and one TD. Christian's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 126 receiving yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Thomas Sumter Academy's defense and their four sacks. Shawn Wrigley was especially locked on to Lee Academy's QB and sacked him twice.

The win made it two in a row for Thomas Sumter Academy and bumps their season record up to 2-4. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.5 points over those games. As for Lee Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Thomas Sumter Academy will look to defend their home field on Friday against American Leadership Academy at 7:30 p.m. As for Lee Academy, they will head out to take on Pee Dee Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cavaliers will be up against the Golden Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
