Recap: Bunnell Bulldogs vs. Weston Trojans
The Bunnell Bulldogs had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They snuck past Weston with a 70-64 win. Given Bunnell's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Trojans are ranked 61st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rody Ricketts had a dynamite game for Bunnell, scoring 44 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Ricketts has scored at least a third of Bunnell's points.
Bunnell has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Weston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bunnell will face off against the Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Notre Dame Catholic is on a eight-game streak of home wins, the Bulldogs a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Weston, they will head out on the road to challenge the Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
