Softball Recap: Archbishop Carroll Triumphs

Archbishop Carroll and Neumann-Goretti pushed the score to 17-3 the last time they played Neumann-Goretti, but on Thursday defenses reigned supreme. The Patriots never let the Saints get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Saints recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Olivia Zanetich was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Teagan Corcoran was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Gracie Durkin also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Archbishop Carroll's victory bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Neumann-Goretti, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Coming up, Archbishop Carroll is taking a road trip to take on Cardinal O'Hara at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Lions have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Neumann-Goretti does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
