Basketball Recap: Yuma Snags 11th Victory in Last 14 Games

Yuma won the last time they faced Sterling, and Brody Sheffield did his part to make sure it happened again. The Yuma Outlaws breezed past the Sterling Tigers to the tune of 57-27 on Saturday for which the team can thank Sheffield, who posted 28 points in addition to six assists and six boards. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Iann Duran, who had five points. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rebounds (four).

Despite the loss, Sterling had strong showings from Jacob Slade, who put up 12 points, and Ethan Thyne, who earned seven points.

Yuma has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Sterling's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8.

Yuma and Sterling are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Yuma will face off against Monte Vista on Friday. Yuma will be up against Monte Vista's rather soft defense (which has allowed 54.77 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Sterling, they will square off against Basalt on Friday. Sterling has given up an average of 53.7 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.
