Softball Recap: Liberty-Benton Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Liberty-Benton posted their closest win since April 1st on Wednesday. They skirted past the Fostoria Redmen 8-7.

Megan Gerken made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Alyssa Roberts was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Lauren Erdeljac was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Liberty-Benton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Fostoria, they dropped their record down to 2-18 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty-Benton will host Parkway at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fostoria, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Lake at 5:00 p.m. The Flyers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Redmen's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
