Baseball Recap: Wayne Wins Going Away Against Draper APA

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Wayne walked away with it. They blew past the Draper APA Eagles 21-0 on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Badgers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Ethan Beecher made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Wayne's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 5-13 when he doesn't). Beecher was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

Wayne kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Draper APA only managed one.

Wayne has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-14 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Draper APA, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-7.

As of now, neither Wayne nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
