Baseball Recap: Addison Drops Highest Score of Season Against Vandercook Lake

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Addison). They put the hurt on the Vandercook Lake Jayhawks with a sharp 16-1 victory on Wednesday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Jayhawks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Logan Jewell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Addison got a massive performance out of Noah Gramm, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Gramm is becoming a predictor of the Panthers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Josh Ray, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Addison always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vandercook Lake only posted an OBP of .320.

Addison's record is now 6-8. As for Vandercook Lake, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Addison will head out to face off against Michigan Center at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.38 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Vandercook Lake, they will head out on the road to take on Napoleon at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Jayhawks are facing the Pirates at the right time seeing as the Pirates are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
