Baseball Recap: 16 Straight Home Victories for Yuma

Yuma entered their tilt with Desert Sunrise on Thursday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. They put the hurt on the Golden Hawks with a sharp 10-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 1-0 back in March.

Not much got past Eli Lujan, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Desert Sunrise off the board. Lujan has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Deven Aguirrebarrena was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jaime Ruelas, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Yuma always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .516 or higher in six consecutive games.

Yuma pushed their record up to 20-5-1 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Desert Sunrise, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-6-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yuma will face off against Kofa at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Desert Sunrise, they will take on Poston Butte at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Broncos have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.67 runs per game on average), something the Golden Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
