Game recap: Cathedral Catholic High School Football Team tops Olympian

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Cathedral Catholic (San Diego, Calif.) took an early lead against Olympian (Chula Vista, Calif.) and held on for a 43-7 victory on Saturday.

The Dons put up 21 points in the opening frame. Cathedral Catholic scored on a Clayton Dale touchdown pass to Daniel Plum, a punt return touchdown by Drew Cowelll and a touchdown pass by Dale to Plum.

After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Dale to Plum in the first quarter, CC was up 29-0 at the half.

The San Diego school grew its lead to 36 points entering the fourth quarter. The Dons scored two times in the third, including once on a defensive touchdown.

Cathedral Catholic's standout player in the win was Dale. The junior quarterback threw three touchdowns. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.



Olympian's lone touchdown came on a 13-yard pass from Connal Brown to Gregory Goff in the third quarter.

CC had given up an average of 11.7 points prior to the contest. The seven points that the Eagles ended with were well below their average of 23.9 coming into the game.

The defeat comes as a step back for Olympian, which notched a 35-18 victory over Mira Mesa in its previous outing. With the win the San Diego school extended its winning streak to three games. The loss ended Olympian's two-game winning streak.
