Mohawk had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Hilltop Cadets 10-4 on Wednesday. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 games by six runs or more this season.
Aubrey Gottfried spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on seven hits and racked up 13 Ks.
At the plate, Trenna Johnson was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Emily Brickner was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Mohawk was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hilltop only posted a batting average of .207.
The victory (which was Mohawk's eighth in a row) raised their record to 23-5. As for Hilltop, they moved to 26-4 with that defeat, which also ended their 13-game winning streak.
As of now, neither Mohawk nor the Cadets have any future games scheduled.
