Volleyball Recap: Verrado's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

After a string of five wins, Verrado's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of the Willow Canyon Wildcats by a score of 2-1. If the Vipers were looking for revenge after losing 3-2 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in May of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Alexander Marrero paced Verrado's offense, picking up nine kills. Marrero got some help from Zachary Doerksen and his 19 assists. Seth Doerr controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Verrado's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Willow Canyon, their win bumped their record up to 11-2.

Verrado has already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Kellis on the 15th. As for Willow Canyon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Higley on the 15th.
