Baseball Recap: Elkmont Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

While Elkmont didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Guntersville Wildcats on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Devils.

The team relied heavily on Jake Guthrie, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Jacoby Phillips also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Elkmont pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Guntersville, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-6.

Looking ahead, Elkmont will welcome West Limestone at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Guntersville, they will take on St. John Paul II at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
