Scottsdale Preparatory Academy is 9-1 against Red Rock since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Spartans will look to defend their home field against the Scorpions at 3:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Monday, Scottsdale Preparatory Academy didn't have quite enough to beat St. John Paul II Catholic and fell 6-5. That's two games in a row now that the Spartans have lost by just one run.

Sehaj Malhi was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over 5.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, Cade Zawada was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Kannon Czochara also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Red Rock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 22-0 to Scottsdale Christian Academy, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Red Rock's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11-1. As for Scottsdale Preparatory Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Scottsdale Preparatory Academy took their victory against Red Rock in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 24-0 score. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Scorpions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
