Softball Recap: Chico Triumphs

Chico posted their closest victory since February 22nd on Tuesday. They skirted past the Era Hornets 2-1. The win continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won three in a row.

Addyson Sides spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 17 Ks. Those 17 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Chico's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jatelynd Gregg, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple was Gregg's first of the season.

Chico now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Era, they dropped their record down to 3-16 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Chico will host Muenster at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Dragons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Era, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lindsay at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
