Basketball Recap: Holdenville Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Holdenville won the last time they faced Stroud and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Holdenville Wolverines put the hurt on the Stroud Tigers with a sharp 65-42 win. Given the Wolverines' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Tigers are ranked 354th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Holdenville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mike Piza out in front who went 7 for 16 on his way to 19 points and eight rebounds. That's the most points Piza has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kase Sipes, who posted 13 points along with six steals and five assists.

Holdenville pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Stroud, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Holdenville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-50 victory against Seminole on the 23rd. Stroud has also already played their next game (against Chandler), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
