Basketball Recap: Antioch Sequoits vs. Elk Grove Grenadiers
Antioch had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 52-23 win over the Elk Grove Grenadiers. The Sequoits pushed the score to 39-17 by the end of the third, a deficit the Grenadiers had little chance of recovering from.
Antioch got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Heidi Rathmann out in front who had 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Williamson, who posted 11 points.
Several Grenadiers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kaitlin Wirtz, who scored six points.
Antioch will be taking part in a tournament against Lake Forest at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Elk Grove, they will face off against Lake Forest Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
