Basketball Recap: Ben Milliken's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sarasota Christian over Riverview Sarasota

Sarasota Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 70-60 to the Riverview Sarasota Rams. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blazers of the 70-40 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Sarasota Christian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Milliken, who went 8 for 18 on his way to 25 points and six rebounds. Milliken continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Justin Brock was another key player, going 7 of 12 en route to 17 points.

Even though they lost, Sarasota Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Leading Riverview Sarasota to victory were Cole Coggin and Josh Harris. Coggin went 7 for 13 on his way to 24 points in addition to six assists and three steals, while Harris went 10 of 20 en route to 28 points. The dominant performance gave Coggin a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Ryan Farris, who posted six points and six boards.

Sarasota Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Riverview Sarasota, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season.

Sarasota Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Riverview Sarasota, they will take on Lehigh on Wednesday. One thing working in Riverview Sarasota's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 13 contests.
