Basketball Recap: Metlakatla Snags Ninth Win in Last Ten Games

Metlakatla lost to Petersburg back in March of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Metlakatla Chiefs took down the Petersburg Vikings 44-27. Given the Chiefs' advantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Vikings are ranked 86th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Metlakatla is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.1 points per game. As for Petersburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.

Metlakatla will have a chance to go back-to-back against Petersburg: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
