Softball Recap: Jackson North Side Comes Up Short

Jackson North Side had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 4-16 to make it 11. They came up short against the Chester County Eagles, falling 16-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-2 back in March.

As for Chester County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games.

For Chester County's part, Kymber Martin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Martin has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jackson North Side will host Bradford at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Devils have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season. As for Chester County, they will welcome Lexington at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
