Softball Recap: Melrose Comes Up Short

Melrose was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 18th straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saugus Sachems. The matchup marked the Red Raiders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Melrose's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Saugus, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Melrose will venture away from home to take on Watertown at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Saugus, they will take on Beverly at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
