Basketball Recap: Mooresville Comes Up Short

After flying high against A.L. Brown last Friday, Mooresville came back down to earth. The Mooresville Blue Devils had to suffer through a 90-29 loss at the hands of the Lake Norman Wildcats. The game marked the Blue Devils' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Mooresville's loss on Wednesday came despite strong showings from Gia Lowe and Lilly Rumrill. Lowe posted nine points, while Rumrill scored seven points.

Rayana Minard continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lake Norman, going 9 for 13 on her way to 19 points and eight steals. The dominant performance gave Minard a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiya Bond, who went 7 of 12 en route to 17 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Mooresville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Lake Norman, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-1.

Mooresville will head out on the road to square off against Cox Mill at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lake Norman, they will be playing at home against A.L. Brown at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
