Basketball Recap: First Coast Comes Up Short

On Thursday, the First Coast Buccaneers lost to the St. Johns Country Day Spartans at home by a 50-34 margin. The Buccaneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Leading St. Johns Country Day to victory were Kendall Proffitt and Ashantii Williams. Proffitt dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten boards, while Williams dropped a double-double on 11 points and 20 rebounds. Proffitt's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sophia Mejias, who posted eight points and five assists.

First Coast's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for St. Johns Country Day, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. First Coast won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Creekside at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Johns Country Day, they will square off against Old Plank Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
