Football Recap: Mesa Starts Season with Win Against Shadow Ridge

Mesa gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 34-14 margin over the Shadow Ridge Stallions. With the Jackrabbits ahead 24-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mesa to victory, but perhaps none more so than Derek Carr, who threw for 220 yards and three TDs while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt. Kameron Williams was in the mix as well, providing the Jackrabbits with two scores.

Several Stallions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Luke Pearson, who picked up 47 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Cruz, who rushed for 124 yards.

Mesa wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 46-7 defeat against Mountain View on the 5th. As for Shadow Ridge, they have also already played their next game, a 43-6 win against Clark on the 5th.
