Baseball Game Preview: Sunrise Mountain Miners vs. Boulder City Eagles

For the second straight game, Sunrise Mountain will face off against Boulder City. The Miners will head out on the road to square off against the Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sunrise Mountain is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Sunrise Mountain's offense. They lost 15-0 to Boulder City on Tuesday.

For Boulder City's part, Gavin Flake was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Flake a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Boulder City: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Karter Law, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Robinson, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Boulder City hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sunrise Mountain struck out seven times.

Sunrise Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Boulder City, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sunrise Mountain hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. However, it's not like Boulder City struggles in that department as they've averaged .353. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
