Basketball Recap: North Central Snags Ninth Victory in Last Ten Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only North Central walked away with it. They strolled past the Shakamak Lakers with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 50-34. Given the Thunderbirds' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Lakers are ranked 243rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Central had a senior duo take command as Jalyn Davidson went 9 for 22 on her way to 25 points and Shelby Seay posted 13 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. Davidson's evening made it ten games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Hannah Stepp, who scored five points and five boards.

North Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season. As for Shakamak, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-12.

Looking ahead, North Central and White River Valley will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with White River Valley sitting on five straight wins and North Central on seven. Shakamak does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
