Baseball Game Preview: Kellis Cougars vs. Centennial Coyotes

Kellis hasn't had much luck against Centennial recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Coyotes at 3:45 p.m. Kellis has given up an average of 14.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Kellis is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Monday. They lost 11-0 to Youngker.

Meanwhile, Centennial entered their tilt with Notre Dame Prep on Monday with nine consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with ten. They put the hurt on the Saints with a sharp 10-1 victory. The Coyotes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.

JT Price made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, William Strand was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in May of 2024. Liu Rodriguez Jr was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

Centennial kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Centennial's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Kellis, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13.
