Preview: Newport - Bellevue Knights vs. Skyline Spartans
Newport - Bellevue is 1-9 against Skyline since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Newport - Bellevue Knights will head out on the road to take on the Skyline Spartans at 8:30 p.m. Newport - Bellevue is hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses.
Newport - Bellevue suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Mount Si, falling 86-41. While losing is never fun, Newport - Bellevue can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 304th, while Mount Si is ranked sixth).
The losing side was boosted by Jace Rainey, who scored 19 points. That was a full 46.3% of Newport - Bellevue's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Seng, who scored nine points.
Newport - Bellevue struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Skyline scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Juanita 81-41 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Skyline has posted since December 12, 2023.
Newport - Bellevue's loss dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Skyline, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
Newport - Bellevue was dealt a bruising 74-33 loss at the hands of Skyline when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Newport - Bellevue was down 46-14.
