Basketball Game Preview: Hunt Warriors vs. South Johnston Trojans

The Hunt Warriors will square off against the South Johnston Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Thursday, Hunt was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 43-38 to East Wake. While Hunt didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating East Wake 17-4 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, South Johnston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 53-36 to C.B. Aycock. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 432nd, while the Golden Falcons are ranked 85th).

South Johnston's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Hunt, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Hunt came up short against South Johnston when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 53-45. Can Hunt avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
