Preview: River Valley Vikings vs. Granville Blue Aces

River Valley has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Granville Blue Aces at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully River Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Sunday.

Last Sunday, things could have been worse for River Valley, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 47-33 loss to Bishop Watterson. While losing is never fun, River Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while Bishop Watterson is ranked 119th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Halle Snyder, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Lexie Hecker, who scored eight points along with three steals.

Meanwhile, Granville put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 64-32 victory over Heath. The result was nothing new for Granville, who have now won four games by 32 points or more so far this season.

River Valley now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Granville, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with that victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

River Valley took a serious blow against Granville in their previous meeting back in February of 2021, falling 55-23. Can River Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
