The Canon City Tigers will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against the Summit Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Canon City will be strutting in after a win while Summit will be coming in after a defeat.

Canon City is headed out to face Summit after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Canon City strolled past Eagle Valley with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 49-35. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Canon City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gavin Reddick, who rushed for 99 yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in rushing yards. Matthew Harms was another key receiver, gaining 116 total yards and two touchdowns.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Canon City was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 361 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 203 rushing yards in four consecutive games dating back to last season.

Canon City's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. The picks came courtesy of Harms and Kayden Benson. Harms also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making six total tackles and defending five passes in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.

Summit kicked off their season on the road last Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against Glenwood Springs, falling 35-13. The Tigers' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row dating back to last season.

Summit wouldn't let Glenwood Springs keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Sean Mullaly, Quinn Breigenzer, and Alejandro Baray picked up one apiece.
