Recap: South Amboy Governors vs. Dunellen Destroyers
The South Amboy Governors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 36-22 to Dunellen. While losing is never fun, South Amboy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while Dunellen is ranked 23rd).
Dunellen found their leader in underclassman Wendy Woll, who scored 20 points along with five steals and three blocks. Fabiana Ames Castillo was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and four steals.
South Amboy's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Dunellen, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Amboy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Dunellen at 4:00 p.m. on January 22, 2024. As for Dunellen, they will head out on the road to face off against Timothy Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Timothy Christian is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
