Upper Dauphin Area hadn't done well against Newport recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Upper Dauphin Area won by a run and slipped past Newport 9-8. That's more bragging rights for the Trojans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Wyatt Troutman was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nolan Schreffler, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Isaac Jackson, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Upper Dauphin Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newport only posted a batting average of .148.

The victory made it two in a row for Upper Dauphin Area and bumps their season record up to 2-3. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 14 hits in those games compared to only 5.33 in the others. As for Newport, they moved to 4-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
