Football Game Preview: Boerne-Champion Chargers vs. Pieper Warriors

Two dominant wideouts in Brogan Dempsey and Cash Lancaster are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Boerne-Champion Chargers will head out on the road to take on the Pieper Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Boerne-Champion comes in on three and Pieper on four.

On Friday, Boerne-Champion made easy work of Wagner and carried off a 45-22 victory. Considering the Chargers have won five contests by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Pieper on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Victoria East out of the water with a 53-19 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Warriors had established a 26-point advantage.

Pieper's win came from a few key players Boerne-Champion will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Isaiah Gaitan, who threw for 214 yards and three TDs while completing 93.3% of his passes. Those 214 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Brady Hopper was in the mix as well, providing Pieper with two touchdowns.

Boerne-Champion's record is now 6-3. As for Pieper, their record now sits at an identical 6-3.

Friday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Boerne-Champion has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 176.9 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Pieper, though, as they've been averaging only 97.1 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?

Boerne-Champion was dealt a bruising 69-27 loss at the hands of Pieper in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Chargers, Cayden Keeth (who threw for 210 yards and five TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also punched in one rushing score) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
