Softball Recap: River Islands Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Venture Academy, River Islands was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Ripon Christian Knights 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Riptide have posted since March 20, 2025.

Ocatvia O made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

River Islands' win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Ripon Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Coming up, River Islands will head out to challenge Elliot Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Riptide surely won't give up without a fight. As for Ripon Christian, they will welcome Escalon at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.24 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
